ENG 111 Introductıon to Academic English     (063) (ECTS: 3)

This is a compulsory course for freshman students who are required to improve their general English proficiency level before taking ENG 105, ENG 106 and the other successive English courses, based on their scores received in the prep school proficiency exam. During the course, while improving their general English skills, students are also exposed to the foundations of academic English skills, which will enable them to easily follow their departmental courses without major difficulties. The course covers intense grammatical and lexical study, as well as lecture comprehension and text analysis at a basic level. The course also gives students the opportunity to become aware of critical thinking skills and adopt basic study skills.
